29th Annual RC Hickman Young Photographers Workshop
The 29th annual R.C. Hickman Young Photographers Workshop will begin on Saturday July 8th and continues each Saturday, on the 15th, 22nd and 29th, at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Dallas Public Library, located at 1515 Young Street in downtown Dallas. The R.C. Hickman Young Photographers Workshop will begin at 11:00am. There are no requirements to bring your own camera but if you'd like to you can but we especially want you to bring your interest. It helps in learning to take the best pictures working with the Foundation's best instructors. Gordon Parks Young Photographers Competition

The Gordon Parks Young Photographers Competition is presented each year for amateur photographers only. Ages 10 through 18 years may enter. Named in honor of the famed author, photographer, film maker Gordon Parks as a continuing inspiration to the youth to seek a positive outlet through the art of photography or whatever discipline you choose.
This year's winners will be announced on Saturday August 5, 2017 at the J. Erik Jonsson Downtown Dallas Public Library
Deadline and mail postdate for entries is July 22, 2017. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will be announced Saturday, August 5, 2017, after the Young Photographers Guest Lecture Program, which begins at 1pm at the J. Erik Jonsson Library, Downtown Dallas Branch located at 1515 Young Street, just across from Dallas City Hall.
Prizes awarded are $300 for 1st place, $200 for 2nd place, and $100 for 3rd place Honorable Mention - Nkonyezi's Honorable Mention plaque. Winners will be announced August 5th. More info to come.
RC Hickman Young Photographers Workshop
The RC Hickman Young Photographers Workshop is a program presented each Summer as a fun outlet for students to become acquainted with the artistic use of the camera. Activities are planned in which the students travel to various locations in the Metroplex, take pictures then return to the photo lab and develop and process the film into pictures. This year, the RC Hickman Young Photographers Workshop is being held at the J. Erik Jonsson Downtown Branch Library located at 1515 Young Street, across from Dallas City Hall. The workshop will start up on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 11:00am and continue through Saturday, July 29, 2017.
The students meet others becoming acquainted with the camera. Lunch is served each time the workshop meets, and culminates with an inspirational program featuring a guest lecturer photographer sharing his/her experience and success. The RC Hickman Young Photographers Workshop generally meets each Saturday during the summer. There are no requirements to bring your camera unless you want to. Ages 10 - 18 only. We want your child to feel welcome to learn and have some fun. The Young Photographers Guest Lecture SeriesThe Young Photographers Guest Lecture Series is an inspirational program that is presented each year to inform students, aspirants, photography peers, shutterbugs and the general public on the 5 w's for their choice of photography. Highly acclaimed, talented, photographers in their resepected fields of endeavor take the podium to share what its like behind the camera, why they chose photography and their techniques for taking the best photos ever seen.
